About the Role

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will work under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses, Midwives and Enrolled Nurses, supporting safe, compassionate and efficient patient care.

You will play a vital role in patient comfort, transport, safety, and ward support while contributing to smooth admission, transfer and discharge processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under RN/Midwife/EN supervision
  • Assist with patient transport, mobility and manual handling
  • Respond promptly to patient call bells and requests
  • Support patient admission, transfer and discharge processes
  • Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times
  • Assist with care of deceased patients as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of clinical areas and nursing stations
  • Restock supplies and linen as required
  • Liaise with nursing staff regarding patient meals and dietary needs
  • Observe, report and document patient wellbeing concerns
  • Follow emergency procedures and directions
  • Report incidents, hazards and injuries
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) policies
  • Participate in OHS training and consultative arrangements

Essential Requirements

To be successful, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Health Service Assistant (Client/Patient Services) or
  • Currently studying a health-related tertiary qualification
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Commitment to patient-centred care
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
