Casual Support Worker Perth – Job Description

As a Casual Support Worker Perth with Ruah Community Services, you will help people experiencing homelessness, mental health concerns, family and domestic violence, and other complex challenges access safety, stability and practical support.

You will work across Housing and Homelessness programs that provide different forms of assistance to people experiencing disadvantage. These services include daytime support, outreach and tenancy assistance, and overnight support for women experiencing homelessness and other vulnerabilities.

The role focuses on person-centred support, relationship building, referrals and helping participants connect with relevant services. You will contribute to a welcoming, safe and respectful environment while supporting people to work toward their individual goals.

Ruah is looking for applicants who can communicate effectively, respond compassionately to challenging circumstances and work collaboratively with colleagues and external service providers.

Available Programs and Working Hours

Ruah Engagement Hub (REH)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

Based in Northbridge, the Ruah Engagement Hub provides a welcoming daytime environment for people experiencing homelessness. The service helps participants access practical assistance, advocacy, referrals and connections to essential services.

As a Support Worker, you may help participants understand their options, connect with relevant services and access support that promotes safety and stability.

After Hours Support Services (AHSS)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 3:30pm–11:30pm

After Hours Support Services provides outreach and tenancy support for people who have recently transitioned into housing.

The service aims to help participants maintain stable accommodation, strengthen their wellbeing and access the assistance they need to sustain their housing.

Safe Night Space (SNS)

Hours: 6:30pm–11:30pm and 12:00am–7:00am, seven days per week

Safe Night Space provides a culturally safe overnight environment for women experiencing homelessness, family and domestic violence, and other vulnerabilities.

The service offers safety, support and connections to further assistance. Support Workers help maintain a respectful and supportive environment for people accessing the service.
