About the Role
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Kitchen Hand to join a dedicated hospital support services team in Sydney NSW. This role plays an important part in maintaining the smooth operation of hospital services, including food preparation, cleanliness, and kitchen support.
Reporting directly to the Chef in Charge, you will assist with daily kitchen operations to ensure high standards of hygiene, efficiency, and service delivery within a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Kitchen Hand, your duties will include:
- Washing and sanitising crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, trolleys, and equipment
- Collecting, emptying, and replacing rubbish and waste bags
- Transporting and collecting patient meal trays from wards and lounges using allocated trolleys
- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation and general kitchen tasks
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment
- Following food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures
Skills & Experience Required
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a commercial or professional kitchen
- Previous experience in hospital, aged care, or healthcare environments (preferred but not essential)
- Knowledge of HACCP food safety standards (preferred)
- Strong communication skills and a professional presentation
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail
